The Mercedes-Benz O405 is a very successfull citybus and the direct successor of the O305. It belongs to the second generation of VÖV-Standard buses and had some major changes during the years. The first version was introduced in 1984 with a high floor. In the beginning of the nineties it was offered with low floor. That's why it is beeing called O405"N" in which N stands for "Niederflur" (low floor). Production lasted till 2001. The last version (O405N²) had a complete low floor and also had the optional modern up-to-date VDV-Cockpit since 1997.
