Like the predecessor series SD78.2 and SD79, the 70 vehicles of the series SD80 are designed according to the principles of passenger flow. So these vehicles have a second staircase behind the driver's seat, which serves exclusively for the ascent. Of the aforementioned predecessor series and the novel arrangement of the side signs was taken in two separate windows above the entrance door. New with the SD80 is the seat turned against the direction of travel at the stroller parking space. The boarding request with pram can be communicated to the driver via a push button on the exit door. The cars 1721-1745 were delivered deviating from the previously used red synthetic leather with plush seats.
