In addition to standard intercity buses, MAN also offered a combi bus derived from the current Reisbus series. If the RÜ 240 could hardly prevail as an alternative to the widespread SÜ 240, then the successor with the name "ÜL" came to an astonishing spread, which was not limited to private bus operations, but also took place especially at regional bus companies.
The Regionalverkehr Kurhessen (RKH), one of the regional bus companies of Deutsche Bahn, procured a total of 40 copies of the MAN ÜL between 1990 and 1996 in the respective current series and used them primarily from the depot Kassel.
From 1991, the MAN ÜLs procured by RKH were equipped with the D 2866 TUH 6-cylinder in-line engine. Until 1992, they received the proven AEG-Annax target display.
