In 1999, the transport companies Hamburg-Holstein procured new articulated buses from the factory for the first time, which were also the first low-floor articulated buses.

The 15 articulated buses of the 99 series were the last before procurement of the new vehicle type O 530 G at the VHH.
They had a lowered in the front area window edge, VDV driver workplace, 4-speed automatic transmission and noticeably stronger 299 hp engines according to Euro 2 with turbocharger and electronic injection system.
Due to the higher engine power, a longer axle ratio could be used. The transmission is identical to the older articulated buses of the HHA, but the gears are extended longer because of the larger ratio.

All cars were also equipped with speed limiter, right-hand lowering device, wheelchair folding ramp, gray-red interior with 52 flat-seat seats and two stops.
See inside. The improved roof hatches are now operated electrically from the driver's seat and close automatically when it rains or when the vehicle is left. In addition, they have integrated solar fans to improve air circulation.
Only the third door was operated by the passenger, the 1st and 2nd door were controlled directly by the driver as in the solo bus.

With the completion of this virtual bus 13 of the 15 vehicles were retired and sold. 9903 and 9906 are now (February 2014) on loan in Neumünster.
